Negroni

Home Cocktail Series 5 – Negroni (Gin, Vermouth, Campari)

A Negroni. With Gordon’s, please.

– James Bond

One story of the creation of the Negroni is attributed to the Italian Count Camillo Negroni who visited Caffè Casoni in Florence in 1919 and requested the bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to add more punch to his Americano by replacing the soda with Gin. Another story claims that Pascal Olivier Count de Negroni, a Corsican war hero, invented the drink while in Senegal. While the origin of the cocktail is often disputed, what cannot be disputed is that the Negroni is a great drink.
