Made by Boekenhoutskloof – South Africa’s Winery of the Year 2020, the Chocolate Block Fine Wine is a cult favourite. The winemaker Marc Kent slightly tweaks the blend with every vintage has its unique flavour profile. The wine has a blend of rich Mediterranean grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Viognier.
Aromas of black fruit entice the nose with hints of pepper and spice. This is followed by layers of blackberry and blueberry. Flavours of dark plum rush through the palate supplemented by notes of cocoa nib, graphite, and dust. The wine is smooth, supple, with fine tannins.
