The Bogart’s Bitters were the only bitters mentioned by name in the worlds first known book about cocktails “How to Mix Drinks” published in 1862. This bitter was lost over time with the new Food and Drugs Act of 1906 and the Prohibition that followed in 1920 with no known surviving bottles. However, the founders of The Bitter Truth came across an an online auction wherein a fully intact bottle with label and contents was listed. The painstaking reverse engineering process lasted for more than 10 years.
