First released in 1960, the Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Mataro is made of 80% Shiraz and 20% Mataro grape varietals. The wine has a cerise core colour with a crimson rim. The aromas are dominated by red fruits such as cranberry, red currants, and rhubarb. Further layers of scents such as freshly sliced cured meats, and black olive tapenade add a savoury aromas. This is well complemented by spice noted derived from maturation in American and French Oak casks. These aromas are amplified on the palate. The juicy acidity makes this a well balanced medium bodied wine.
